Happy New Year's Eve!!

Okay, I am sorry I have been a bad blogger lately. It has been a weird time around here. Anyway, we had a good Christmas and great time off from work, I really didn't want to go back to work and last week was a torture because there was absolutely nothing going on. We were both off today but then David got called in to do a fire job so that was okay, he got to sleep in. I finished reading my Engine 2 Diet book and went and got some supplies to get going on that. I have been obsessed with going on a diet and eliminating Diet Coke for the last week or so. Today was the first day without Diet Coke and since I have been cutting down slowly for the past two weeks it went pretty good. I had some black tea to get a little caffeine since I don't want that awful caffeine headache. Mostly I drink water though and I am already feeling better because of that....so, that is what I have been up to lately.

I went to Michael's today and got some wool to make me a skirt I saw in the Interweave magazine. I was going to get a dark cherry color but all of the ones I liked did not have enough skeins left since everyone is having a sale on wool right now but I ended up with a real pretty dark green which is similar to the color they used in the pattern but the pattern used wool that is $10 a skein and I paid less than $2.50 for mine!! I will post up a picture when I get more of it knitted, right now I have about 2 inches of the waistband done.

We have had a heat wave the last couple days and all the snow is melted. People were running around like crazy today, out walking and golfing, too bad it isn't spring! Not sure when we are going to get lurched back into reality but it is really nice to have some pure sunshine for a change.

Tomorrow I will post some pictures! Have a Happy New Year's Eve!!!

Finally on Holiday Break

I am finally on break for 3 days!! I worked a half day today and then went to CVS to pick up a few last minute things. Went to JoAnn's and got some knitting needles. I am going to knit a hat for my friend at work, his birthday is next week and the little hat he wears doesn't cover his ears. I made a trial hat in the round last week so I think I have the technique down now.

I have all of our presents wrapped and just need David to bring my sewing table down so we can put all the gifts on it since we don't have the big tree this year there is no tree to put gifts under.

I am going to make a turkey tomorrow for dinner and then on Saturday we will have ham. I am looking forward to the leftover turkey so I can make turkey enchiladas, it is one of our favorite dishes.

I will take some pictures to post later. Time to knit!

BRR

Well, we had a bit of snow on Sunday night. I guess maybe I am getting used to snow because I didn't think we got that much but they closed Jack's school and the base had a 4 hour delay. I went to work on time because the roads were clear. It has been really cold since then with the wind chills in the negatives.

Sunday I made Zuppa Toscana to take to work. If you have been to the Olive Garden it is one of their soups. It has Italian sausage, potato and kale in it. It was very good and everyone at work really liked it.

I finished up a few projects and mailed off all the packages today so I hope everyone enjoys the presents! I sent off the family cards and now I have to do all of the friends cards should have those in the mail tomorrow.

Tomorrow night is David's Christmas party at his work. I baked two pies to take. I have to figure out what to wear still, supposed to be casual. I got my hair done today, all new color and more layers put in with shorter bangs. I really like it.

Just need to wrap our presents and then I can work on my quilt and a couple other projects.

Okay, time to get things ready for tomorrow!

Britney Loves Her New Scarf!

Britney sent me pictures of her and the scarf. She really liked it. I hope she is having a great birthday.

We had more snow today. The temperature was 18 but with wind chill it is 2 degrees.

I am working on the circular needle project. I got the nine strips of six blocks sewn together last night. Tonight I am going to start sewing the strips together. I will do 2 at a time and then sew those together until I get all 9 strips together. I will take some pictures as I go.

Okay got to make Dave's dinner :)

Still Snowing

The morning was clear but it is now snowing. It snowed all day yesterday. I didn't go anywhere. We went and got groceries this morning and it was 28 degrees. I then went to JoAnne's, Kohl's and Target and by the time I got home it was snowing again.

I am sitting here watching football and working on some projects. The puppies are in front of the fire. David is putting the snow blade on his tractor and getting the snow blower operating.

I finished the headband yesterday and here is a picture of it. I am now working on someone's present on the circular needles. I am not very fond of circular needles but you have to use them when you have this many stitches on the needle at one time. I should have this project done today. My goal is to get things done so I can mail the boxes next weekend. I bought the squaring tool I needed at JoAnne's so I will be squaring up all of those blocks later today so I can get to sewing the top together before the Thursday class. I am making the twin size quilt so I will be doing 6 blocks across the top and 9 blocks down.

Well, I have to get the laundry going and get to work on the circular needle project. Maybe we will have a snow day tomorrow :)

More Picures

Snow!

We had our first snow on Dec 1 and more snow on Dec 3 and now more snow today! I think it will be long winter!

I put up the little Christmas tree in the bay window. It looks pretty good. I still have a little more decorating to do but my crafts are taking priority right now in order to get them mailed off in time.

My friend Melissa and I went to the quilt class on Thursday. I made some of the blocks there but finished the rest last night. I have to square them up now and sew them together. We are supposed to have the top done by this coming Thursday. I am doing the blocks in shades of pink so I am calling it "Pretty in Pink" the backing will be the pink with flowers (I think they are crysanthemums?).

In the meantime I am working on a headband to go with the fingerless mitts. These will go to Britney for Christmas. So, I have Jessica with the bolero jacket and Britney with the Mittens and Headband. I really have to get to work on the other projects!

All right let me get to work...I will post more later :)

More knitting done

I've been a very busy knitter lately and have finished up my fingerless mittens and the scarf for my friend. Today I am going to work on someone's Christmas present (knit) and make a bag (sew) from a pre-made kit.

It is a beautiful sunny day out but very cold! I am not going to complain though because I would rather have sun than clouds. It was 23 yesterday and I think it may have got up to 30. Everything was frozen over when I went to work. It was weird being at work with only a couple people there but luckily I only had to do two hours.

After work I went to Hancock fabrics to pick up some material for a quilt. Melissa and I are going to a class on the 3rd to make a quilt called "yellow brick road" I am doing mine is shades of pink and I am going to keep this one for myself.

All right, off to do a few chores and then work on projects!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! We have had a good day so far, just finished eating our main meal. I made baked French toast for breakfast and we ate at 3pm. Now we are just sitting down to watch some football and wait for pie time! We had ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, broccoli with cheese, and Hawaiian rolls. The puppies had a bowl of food with all the above except Hawaiian rolls. The pies are cherry and Dutch apple and we will have French vanilla ice cream. It has been very rainy today and we even had a flood warning earlier in the day. Might have some snow flurries/sleet tomorrow, yuck! I only have to work 2 hours tomorrow and then I am taking my car for 18 month check up after lunch. I can't believe I have had it that long already.

I am busy knitting today too. I am trying to finish up some projects that I had already started. I finished the scarf for my friend, I need to take a picture of it to post up. I will probably be knitting or sewing most of the weekend so I can get the Christmas stuff in the mail.

Well, time to get back to work, I hope everyone has a great day!

I finally got some knitting done!

Well, I finally sat down this afternoon and finished the Bolero Jacket! I didn't think it was ever going to finish knitting up but it did and I think it looks really good. I finished the pom-pom scarf for Britney's birthday last weekend so I am on a roll. Now I can move on to other projects. My friends birthday is next week so I want to knit up a quick scarf for her and then I will get back to Christmas stuff.

I bought a little tree to put in the bay window. I will probably put it up next Friday after Thanksgiving. I am going to work extra hours Mon-Wed so I can take Friday off.

Well there isn't much else going on here, it is getting cold and gray outside so we will see how long before it snows :(

Warm November Saturday

We have had really great weather this week and today was just really beautiful. I guess it is supposed to turn cold starting tomorrow, some kind of cold front moving in. We did a little gardening today. I cut back some roses today, I hope it was the right time to do it, hopefully I did not kill them. Need to get some mulch to cover the bottom of the rose bush and all of the bulb plants.

We tried to adopt another dog but it didn't work out. All he did was run away. One of the guys at work took him for his wife. He had been looking for one and when he saw the picture of this one it reminded him of a dog that they had had before. So, I think it all worked out well in the end.

I've been going to physical therapy for my back and it has really been helping. I am going back to acupuncture on Monday and I have been doing bi weekly massages so I am definitely on the mend.

I almost have Britney's scarf done for her birthday, I need to finish it up this weekend so I can get it in the mail soon. I am really not sure what I am going to have done in time for Christmas. I guess whoever gets something will be surprised.

All right off to have some dessert! mmmmm

Friday

Well, another week is done! I went to physical therapy Monday and it bothered my back so I had to stay home on Tuesday. It is still bothering me and sitting at work all day has not been fun. I am going to physical therapy tomorrow and hopefully it will help this time.

Melissa and I went to another cooking class. This one was for pies. Unfortunately it wasn't as good as the other class we took. I did take some pictures this time though.

We are going to have a new puppy if everything works out. We haven't seen him in person yet but he is coming tomorrow afternoon and if he gets along with the other puppies. He looks to be a corgi mix. I will post some pictures when he comes to visit.

I am really tired along with my back hurting I think David has past along his cold to me so should be a fun weekend! I am going to finish up Britney's scarf.

Another Sunday

I can't believe it has been a week since I posted! We have had a pretty good weekend so far. It is quite chilly now so we have had the fireplace going most of the weekend. David put another doggy door in so we can close the french door and save on the heating bill. Jack and I are sitting here watching the Cincinnati Bengals play. I am doing a little work while I am watching since I owe them a few hours for the week.

As far as knitting, I worked on the bolero until I used up the first skein, I have to join in and knit about 4 more inches to finish it up. I decided to stop working on that and work on a scarf for Britney's birthday. It is one of the pom-pom scarfs that I knitted before, I had 4 skeins to knit it and I did one skein yesterday, it does not take long to knit up.

On Thursday night my friend Melissa and I went to a cooking class at Dorothy Lane. This was one of the classes where you sit at tables and watch the chef cook. It was French food and French wine and it was very good!

Friday, I interviewed for another job. Hoping to find out this week if I got it and then I will give this job two weeks notice. I am hoping the new job will be a little more in line to what I would like to do plus it is a salary position.

David is installing a new water softener. He has the water turned off so no laundry is getting done yet plus I am supposed to make him pumpkin bread for his work but all of that is on hold at the moment until he finishes. He had it in but found that the lines weren't run properly from the old one and he is putting in a filter too so it may be awhile before things get done around here.

I had two trick or treaters last night! So, we are eating lots of candy today.

I will try to post some pictures later.

Sunday!

We have had a nice weekend. David and I went to IHOP yesterday morning, well mid-morning so it was more of a brunch than a breakfast. We didn't go to IKEA or the junkyard as I didn't feel like walking around and David didn't really need anything from the junkyard. We did stop at a couple stores to look for some pants that David wants but we couldn't find them. When we got home David took a nap with the dogs and I laid down upstairs because my back was sore from sitting in the car. Jack got me up to go drop off some job applications and then we went to the mall to get him a jacket. When we go back I just went and laid in bed, trying to rest up and get better. The puppies kept me company. This morning I woke up in pain again, David got my meds for me and I went back to sleep for awhile and then got up to go to commissary. I decided I need to stay out of bed to day and move around so I am doing laundry and cleaning in between watching the football games. I am going to work on some knitting once I am happy with all the cleaning.

I am posting a picture that I sent out to everyone this week of Jack all dressed up for Homecoming Dance. He had a really good time. I told David we have to start saving for the Prom! Everything is so expensive.

Well, off to change the laundry over and get our steaks marinating for dinner.

Feeling Better

I went to the doctor yesterday and he put me on 2 days of bed rest and gave me motrin and percocet. I am feeling better this afternoon and will go to work tomorrow. I am going to have to get up and move around more at work so I don't get this bad again. I am going to have to set a timer so I get up every hour and walk around. The dr. is sending me to physical therapy again but this time I get to go downtown so hopefully it will be better than what I was getting at the base. I am also going to go back to accupuncture.

I have not knitted or done anything crafty in awhile. I am beginning to think I will have to scale back on home made Christmas gifts this year but maybe I will have a sudden rush and get it all done...who knows?

Not much else going on, the weather is getting colder and the heater is on. Need to cut back the plants but not sure when I will get around to it, might have to hire someone.

We may go to Cincinnati this weekend to IHOP and then David go to junk yard and I go to IKEA, I have not been there since Rachel came and I still have a cart that needs to be put together in the garage.

I really think working is interfering with me getting things done :)

Off to lay back down.

On my back

Well the weekend has not gone as planned. I was supposed to go to my second real estate class but I woke up with a horrible sinus headache and my right hip/back were hurting. I got over the headache pretty good but today when we went to Wal-Mart I bent over ever so slightly and "pop" the back went out. So, I have been laying on my back most of the day watching football. It still hurts really bad. I have taken muscle relaxer and naproxen. I am going to slap the tens machine and ice it after dinner and then put a lidocaine patch on it and hope for the best. While I was laying immobilized I had a few guests taking naps on or near me. They were quite perturbed when I would get up. Not much else going on, work is going good and I got my first paycheck on Friday, we get paid every two weeks and it was nice to have the extra money coming in.

I am at the point in the bolero where I have to knit eight inches in the single rib stitch to make the collar portion of the sweater. I have not worked on it at all this weekend and right now I can't even sit to work on it.

I hope I can work okay tomorrow.

Enon Apple Butter Festival

There are still many festivals going on around us. David heard about this one from the lady at his work. It was not that big nor did it have that much apple butter. There were plenty of food booths which reminded me of the Flower Festival in Lompoc. We didn't stay too long and we didn't get any apple butter because the only place to get it was at one location and the line was about 3 blocks long. We did get to see the butter in the cast iron vats over the open fire. It was really cool. I remember when we lived in Missouri that we went to an apple butter festival in the town square and I believe it was Mt Vernon. It was really nice to get out and see it and again the weather was very nice, I even had to wear my hat!

I have had a great Columbus day off, I really don't want to go back to work. I have to go upstairs and figure out what to wear but at least I can watch Monday Night Football while I am getting everything ready.

All right off to take care of things....

Caeser Creek Lake

On Saturday we made our annual pilgrimage to the lake. The colors were not that great this year. We did not have that much rain so most of the leaves are just drying up and falling off. I took a couple of pictures when we went up the path to the damn. It was a really nice day. We are having a little Indian summer right now as it has been in the 80s the last few days. I am sure it will snap out of it soon and we will be freezing. I am buying gloves and sweaters to prepare for it.

I worked on the bolero this weekend, it seems like it is taking forever! Just a couple more inches and I will begin the increase row and then it will only be 8 more inches beyond that. I really want to get moving on to the next project.

Friday at last!!!!

Well, it is finally Friday! It has been a long week and I am very tired. I had to take care of a lot of mistakes that people made and that is always irritating. Hopefully there won't be any more. I have a lot of work to do on this program it has been neglected for quite some time.

I don't think I have knitted one stitch this week! I am going to work on the bolero tonight. I really have to get my butt in gear if I am going to have my Christmas stuff done in time.

Rachel got her birthday present today! I am so happy she liked it and she gets to take it on her birthday trip so that is even better! It is a cowl that is long enough to become a hood - a hooded cowl. I can't wait to see it under a jacket. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RACHEL :)(:

We are going to look at the leaves tomorrow so I will post pictures when we get back. I think we will also go to Lowe's and pick up some things we need for the house to finish up some of our little remodels we have going on. I have Monday off but David doesn't so I am not sure what I will do that day...maybe some thrift shops??? LOL

Okay, time to knit!

Josh Blue at the Funny Bone

David and I had a great time at the Funny Bone tonight. Josh was really funny. Before that we went to Logan's and I had a nice filet and David had ribs. At the club we had dessert. I had a strawberry daquiari but it was not that great.

We slept in this morning and then took the puppies to the dog park they had a great time running around with the big dogs, they were totally worn out by the time we got home. We didn't do much else today because it was gray and yucky out. I took a nap because of a sinus headache, woke up feeling better. I don't think we are going to the lake tomorrow because the weather is supposed to be bad again, we will try to go next weekend if it is nice. David is going to a Jeep thing tomorrow and I am going to hem my pants and sew some other stuff. I am working on the bolero now.

Here are a couple of pictures. One from the Funny Bone and the other is the bolero as I am working it.

Building I work in

Here are pictures of the building I work in. This is the main hall at the entrance and all of the offices are off each side. The offices are modern spaces but they left the historical Art Deco architecture in the main hall area. It is very beautiful. This building was the first AF Museum back in the day. I am still hoping to see a ghost or two :)

David and I are going to see a comedian tomorrow night at the Funny Bone. His name is Josh Bleu, he was on Last Comic Standing. I think we will go to the lake on Sunday to see the Fall colors so standby for more pictures.

I am going to do some sewing this weekend along with knitting the bolero.

All right off to finish up Dave's dinner, he had to work late.
