Happy New Year's Eve!!

Okay, I am sorry I have been a bad blogger lately. It has been a weird time around here. Anyway, we had a good Christmas and great time off from work, I really didn't want to go back to work and last week was a torture because there was absolutely nothing going on. We were both off today but then David got called in to do a fire job so that was okay, he got to sleep in. I finished reading my Engine 2 Diet book and went and got some supplies to get going on that. I have been obsessed with going on a diet and eliminating Diet Coke for the last week or so. Today was the first day without Diet Coke and since I have been cutting down slowly for the past two weeks it went pretty good. I had some black tea to get a little caffeine since I don't want that awful caffeine headache. Mostly I drink water though and I am already feeling better because of that....so, that is what I have been up to lately.

I went to Michael's today and got some wool to make me a skirt I saw in the Interweave magazine. I was going to get a dark cherry color but all of the ones I liked did not have enough skeins left since everyone is having a sale on wool right now but I ended up with a real pretty dark green which is similar to the color they used in the pattern but the pattern used wool that is $10 a skein and I paid less than $2.50 for mine!! I will post up a picture when I get more of it knitted, right now I have about 2 inches of the waistband done.

We have had a heat wave the last couple days and all the snow is melted. People were running around like crazy today, out walking and golfing, too bad it isn't spring! Not sure when we are going to get lurched back into reality but it is really nice to have some pure sunshine for a change.

Tomorrow I will post some pictures! Have a Happy New Year's Eve!!!

Finally on Holiday Break

I am finally on break for 3 days!! I worked a half day today and then went to CVS to pick up a few last minute things. Went to JoAnn's and got some knitting needles. I am going to knit a hat for my friend at work, his birthday is next week and the little hat he wears doesn't cover his ears. I made a trial hat in the round last week so I think I have the technique down now.

I have all of our presents wrapped and just need David to bring my sewing table down so we can put all the gifts on it since we don't have the big tree this year there is no tree to put gifts under.

I am going to make a turkey tomorrow for dinner and then on Saturday we will have ham. I am looking forward to the leftover turkey so I can make turkey enchiladas, it is one of our favorite dishes.

I will take some pictures to post later. Time to knit!

BRR

Well, we had a bit of snow on Sunday night. I guess maybe I am getting used to snow because I didn't think we got that much but they closed Jack's school and the base had a 4 hour delay. I went to work on time because the roads were clear. It has been really cold since then with the wind chills in the negatives.

Sunday I made Zuppa Toscana to take to work. If you have been to the Olive Garden it is one of their soups. It has Italian sausage, potato and kale in it. It was very good and everyone at work really liked it.

I finished up a few projects and mailed off all the packages today so I hope everyone enjoys the presents! I sent off the family cards and now I have to do all of the friends cards should have those in the mail tomorrow.

Tomorrow night is David's Christmas party at his work. I baked two pies to take. I have to figure out what to wear still, supposed to be casual. I got my hair done today, all new color and more layers put in with shorter bangs. I really like it.

Just need to wrap our presents and then I can work on my quilt and a couple other projects.

Okay, time to get things ready for tomorrow!

Britney Loves Her New Scarf!

Britney sent me pictures of her and the scarf. She really liked it. I hope she is having a great birthday.

We had more snow today. The temperature was 18 but with wind chill it is 2 degrees.

I am working on the circular needle project. I got the nine strips of six blocks sewn together last night. Tonight I am going to start sewing the strips together. I will do 2 at a time and then sew those together until I get all 9 strips together. I will take some pictures as I go.

Okay got to make Dave's dinner :)

Still Snowing

The morning was clear but it is now snowing. It snowed all day yesterday. I didn't go anywhere. We went and got groceries this morning and it was 28 degrees. I then went to JoAnne's, Kohl's and Target and by the time I got home it was snowing again.

I am sitting here watching football and working on some projects. The puppies are in front of the fire. David is putting the snow blade on his tractor and getting the snow blower operating.

I finished the headband yesterday and here is a picture of it. I am now working on someone's present on the circular needles. I am not very fond of circular needles but you have to use them when you have this many stitches on the needle at one time. I should have this project done today. My goal is to get things done so I can mail the boxes next weekend. I bought the squaring tool I needed at JoAnne's so I will be squaring up all of those blocks later today so I can get to sewing the top together before the Thursday class. I am making the twin size quilt so I will be doing 6 blocks across the top and 9 blocks down.

Well, I have to get the laundry going and get to work on the circular needle project. Maybe we will have a snow day tomorrow :)

More Picures

Snow!

We had our first snow on Dec 1 and more snow on Dec 3 and now more snow today! I think it will be long winter!

I put up the little Christmas tree in the bay window. It looks pretty good. I still have a little more decorating to do but my crafts are taking priority right now in order to get them mailed off in time.

My friend Melissa and I went to the quilt class on Thursday. I made some of the blocks there but finished the rest last night. I have to square them up now and sew them together. We are supposed to have the top done by this coming Thursday. I am doing the blocks in shades of pink so I am calling it "Pretty in Pink" the backing will be the pink with flowers (I think they are crysanthemums?).

In the meantime I am working on a headband to go with the fingerless mitts. These will go to Britney for Christmas. So, I have Jessica with the bolero jacket and Britney with the Mittens and Headband. I really have to get to work on the other projects!

All right let me get to work...I will post more later :)
