Another Thrift Shop Find!

I found this hallway table at the base thrift shop Wednesday and of course I had to have it because I was looking for one. This one needs some TLC. I am going to strip it and paint it to match the mirror that I am going to hang in the entry way above it.

I think I have my final layout for my shadow box. I need to take everything in soon, I'll probably do it tomorrow because I will keep changing it if I keep it here much longer.

Here is a couple pictures of the puppies since I have not posted any lately. As you can see Puppy has taken over the ottoman as if he were the sultan of the ottoman empire! LOL.

I will try to get some pictures of the garage soon. We keep having these really bad thunderstorms lately.

June 1!!

The beginning of another month, one step closer to retirement! I am doing pretty good in my recovery, I seem to have a hard time in the morning in getting going but am pretty good by the afternoon. I am trying to finish up the last few weeks of my class, it is getting quite boring because we seem to keep repeating the same thing over again. I'll be glad when the final paper is done. I start two classes next term which is going to be challenging.

I have put in several applications for adjunct faculty at the local community colleges and I am hoping to hear from them soon. I have a meeting with my consultant partners next week to discuss what we have coming up in the future and more importantly discuss my consultancy fee :).

I am going to try to get my craft room together this weekend. I have to get David to put my new IKEA furniture together so I can get everything set up. I want to start making my drawstring purses with the Jane Austen notes inside, I am also thinking about a line that men can buy for their wives or girlfriends kind of like pajama gram or bear gram. I want to have purses with little gifts inside. I think it will be work well, I just have to figure out the advertising.

David is busy on ripping out his garage. I will get pictures of it tomorrow and post. He worked really hard all weekend ripping out the man cave and trying to get it back to a garage so he can park his Jeep in there to work on and not worry about having to put things away. The garage definitely looks huge with all the walls down, it looked so small with that room in there.

Our renter's seem to be getting settled in although they are having issues with well water since they have not been on it before, so now they want it tested and the well shocked, etc, etc. Oh well, what can you do? They are a nice couple with three small children.

I think I have a few pictures to post let me check. Okay, here are some pics of the house, even though it is still a mess. also paint colors. the slate gray and leaf curtains will be going in the foyer, I have to take down the pink wallpaper, it was okay to begin with but don't want to live with it any more, it does not match the dinning room colors. 27 May - Another good day!

I have not posted in a bit because I have been busy doing things around the house and homework and looking for jobs (I have a job just looking for jobs for my job). I will probably get back to working on the website tonight. It is almost done. I went and got a PO Box so I wouldn't have my home address on the site.

Monday, I went with my friend to pick out my own shadow box. I just got a standard one, it will be similar in color to David's so we can hang them together. I am attaching pictures of the current layout. Yes, I am doing my own layout, I am very particular about that. I think I have everything in there that I want. I am going to make a separate one to hang in my craft room with some of the bulkier things that I would like to get out of boxes and up on the wall.

I have been feeling really good, especially in the morning. I have even been sleeping in so I think that is a good omen to the future and indication that I am doing the right thing by retiring.

Okay, I have way too many projects going on. I need to finish the spring purse, I need to get back to knitting my dress, today I bought material to make a patriotic wall hanging and I decided I was going to make chair covers for my dinning room chairs so I bought the pattern and material for that, I have the doggie material to make another purse which I have a new pattern for, and I have all of my ideas for making purses and all the material I am stockpiling. I have also decided to finally hang all of my linen towels that I have been collecting over the years. I bought the large frames to put them in and I need to iron them and put them inside and then figure out where to hang them. Last but not least I am going to try to cover our brass head board with some material, I thought that would be cheaper than buying a new headboard. We have had that headboard for most of our marriage so I don't want to really get rid of it but it needs some jazzing up.

Okay, I am off to do something. Enjoy some pictures! I have all my wedding china in the nice corner cabinet, this is the most light they have seen in 25 years! They look really nice though.

Working on the new business website

Well, the last few nights I have been working on my consulting website on Go Daddy! It has been very frustrating, seems like I get it just right and then I mess something up and it all goes funky. I don't know what I am doing wrong, I think I need a building website for dummies book. I am attaching the logo for the company. My friend made it nice for me. I will post the link as soon as I get it actually posted.

The house is finally getting worked on. David put the lights up and the new vanity cabinets. I worked on my closet putting things away and I also worked on getting the kitchen set up a little better. We have to go to Lowe's and order the microwave cabinet. David bought the doors for Jack's room so I imagine he will put those up during the week. He also sold his old lawn mower on Craig's List. We also have the refrigerator and the portable basketball hoop, and the old range. I need to take some pictures when things start looking neater.

I am feeling really good from my surgery. I just get a little tired when I work too much. But a nap is always nice. I am going to try to get the craft room done tomorrow so I can start working on some crafts. I can't work when things are messy.

Speaking of messy, I need to clean up around my chair and I got some strawberries to make shortcake so I need to do that too.

First full day home

Well, I had my surgery Tuesday morning and I got to leave yesterday afternoon about 4. I am feeling amazingly good. I have not had to take any narcotics, just taking some Motrin every 8 hours. The incision sites hurt the most and my throat where they had the breathing tube. Otherwise not much pain on the inside. I was up and down today and tire easily but that is to be expected. When I get tired the dogs and I go take a nap together but they are not very good nappers so I might quit taking them with me. I got two flower deliveries today and they are very beautiful. My friend brought me some potted flowers and a balloon last night which was really nice, she also brought me lunch today. I have some really good friends. I will get around and take some pictures of the new house tomorrow. Everything is still kind of messy but that is how it goes around here anyway.

All right, going to try to get some homework done.
