Super Bowl Sunday!!!
It is finally here! I was hoping the Steelers were going to win but they are down by 11 at the half so not sure if they can pull this out, we will see.
We had two days off of work this week for the ice storm we had. We lost power a couple of times but not for very long. We had snow yesterday but it is nice today.
I have been very busy in the evenings since last Saturday's quilting class. We made two blocks in class that are the two blocks that make up the quilt. I have made the 12 blocks that make up the "lily pad" part of the quilt and I am now working on the 13 "turtle" block. The turtle block takes a little longer because there is some paper piecing involved in order to make the rounded shell of the turtle and also applique of the head and tail. I am posting some pictures on the construction. Each block is basically made up of 2 inch squares. There are green blocks for lily pads, greenish brown blocks for turtles, and blue blocks for water. They are all 5 x 5 blocks. So, basically you lay out the 5 x 5 blocks how you want them and then sew each connecting block together vertically and then sew each row together horizontally to make up the block. Hopefully the pictures will help show how to put the blocks together. The first pictures are of the lily pad block.
